Meet the girls
Red Mares LLC is owned and operated by Taylor Schouten and Kahlan Ettere. The girls met a few years ago and became fast friends. Spring of 2025, they launched their passion project podcast, The Red Mare Project (available on Apple podcast and Spotify). In the Spring of 2026, they were handed the butter knife, if you will, from Premo Equine's founder, Evera Premo. See below to learn a bit more about the girls and what else they're up to!
Taylor Schouten, MS, APF-I
Outside of the kitchen, Taylor works as a full time Hoofcare Provider. Her practice, Wild Hoof Equine LLC, is a holistic hoofcare practice offering barefoot trimming, composite shoeing, consultations, and rehabilitation services in the north Georgia area. In all of her spare time, Taylor is also a competitive Dressage rider on her homebred mare, Chantilly.
Kahlan Ettere
In addition to being our potion and tincture senior correspondent, Kahlan has been working in the equine rescue and rehab space since she was a teen. She owns and operates her own equine management and wellness consultation firm, Wise Choice Equine Wellness, based in Houston, TX. In addition to her extensive horse knowledge, she also works in the functional human medicine space, which is a robust asset to her equine skill set.
